Happy Thanksgiving! And soon, Merry Christmas!

As the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade starts (music JUST started on TV!) Delia and I would like to wish everyone a safe, fun filled, Thanksgiving Day and week!

And with the crossing of Santa Clause in front of the Macy’s store, I will officially say the commercial “Merry Christmas”, as historically, his crossing the “screen”, was the beginning of the Christmas Season!  Spiritually the beginning of Advent, the Holy Season of “Christ Mass” starts Saturday evening at sunset.  Then you will earnestly here me say Merry Christ Mass!

You all have a blessed season of festivities and family, but remember the true meaning of both today, Thanksgiving (the thanking of a new land and new experience), and Christmas (the coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ)!

Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas!

Abortion – Why Do It – Why Not Do It?

The topic of abortions is an ongoing battle over the past 30 or so years.  It was less of such a hot topic 40+ years ago.

Do I think abortions should be medically allowed?  Over all no, not morally, medically or spiritually need in most cases.  IF there are medical reasons to do so for either the mother or the child, I see a possibility of going for an abortion if there will be significant issues with carrying through with the pregnancy that will cause significant medical harm, including death, to either the child or the mother that could lead to death or majorly pour health.  This would be the mothers choice, with agreement from the spouse (he should be involved, he was part of the process before), and the Doctor.  Notice I said medical harm, not because of found potential birth defects.  If it is shown in pre-birth testing that the child will have a club foot or some other such issue, I do not think it is a valid reason.

Medical Doctors USE to take a oath, the Hippocratic Oath, many medical schools no longer do so.  Many people wrongly think this oath obligates the Doctor to “do no harm”.  That is actually not the case.  But it does say that (s)he will do all they can to not do harm as is medically possible.

Based on my moral standards, which are from the Judeo-Christian leaning, once the child is conceived, they are now a human and have their own rights and life, and must be considered human and treated as some.  The mother (and father) now must consider this in their actions.  Their chance to control the birth of the child ended at the act that led to the act of conception.  At this point, unless there is a medical reason that REQUIRES the end of the birthing cycle, to take the child’s life is now murder in my books, and by the original laws as well.

Now, people are saying that the Constitution allows for it.  Please show me where this is the case!?  I don’t see it in the Constitution at all, in fact, I see that the human life is protected from murder…

All this said, the major issue on this right now is rather or not the Federal Government can control this issue.  NO IT CAN’T here the Constitution CLEARLY states that the States are in control of this issue, NOT the Federal Government.

Now, if a State decrees that abortion is allowed for any reason at any time, just means I won’t be living in, or concisely supporting that State.

Enjoy Life, and let your pre-birth child enjoy theirs! 🙂

The Gym and My Observations…

For the past few weeks I have finally gotten back to going to the gym and working out my body.  I go Monday through Friday early in the morning.  I go pretty early to try to miss the crowds that can be there.

That said, there are a good number of people there, especially on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.  One thing I have noticed pretty much across the board, with a few rare exceptions, each person is only working on one muscle group at a time, and with again, few exceptions, with high weights.  They do less than 10 “movements” with the weight, typically the free standing weights or dumbbells (nothing wrong here) and MAYBE do one or two more sets of 10 or so and then move on to the next “movement”, on the same muscle group.  And most of them spend a majority of their time on their phone between movement sets.

There are VERY few that add cardio, such as walking stair steps, peddling, etc.  There is one guy that ONLY does cardio, but at a VERY low speed, and with walking backwards, and sideways on the treadmill.  His stair steps are set to very stress as well.

I have seen ONE person work on his legs or lower body, and again, at a high weight on three or four pumps of his legs, rest on their phone for about 10 minutes, then go back at it, MAYBE repeating the cycle three times before heading out.  Total time in the gym being about 45 minutes, most of which is on the phone.

I have studied the body for most of my life, both as a kid through martial arts and in learning Shiatsu and over all pressure point manipulation , and as an adult through EMT/P training, Army Cardio Vascular and Combat Medic training, Army Special Forces Medical Training, and through Continued Medical Education as a Physician’s Assistant.  Granted, I have specialized in pain points (martial arts) and healing points (Shiatsu/Pressure Point Manipulation), Trauma Care, and Cardiac Care.  I have a pretty strong understanding on the bone structures, the muscle system (minus the brain), the nervous system, and the cardiac system, and specialize in that area. I do not have a strong background in other areas such as GYN, Geriatrics, neonatal (don’t want the responsibility in this area, very difficult to care for), cancer, and such.

One thing I have learned over the years, from my Sensie (Martial Arts instructor), from my medical trainings, and believe it or not from the Bible, about the human body.  The body is ONE entity made up of several parts, all of which rely on each other, and are intended to be used as a whole unit, not one piece at a time.

In my observation, and through practice and training, I have found that if you train your WHOLE body every session, you do better over all.  My Sensie required of ALL of his students, as do I, that if they went to the gym, they couldn’t use more than 15 pounds for upper body exercises, and no more than 25 pounds for the lower body.  Now, he never required that you do the whole body each time, he didn’t care if you did just upper body today and legs tomorrow, etc., at least at first.  (That changed after I gave my findings to him about three years before he passed away (of old age) though.)

What he had us doing is to start out at 5 or 10 pounds upper body and do three sets of 15 for each exercise, with 30 seconds between set per exercise, and 1 to 1.5 seconds between exercises.  After a week of that it would go up 5 pounds until you reached 15.  From there, each week, if you were able to, you would add a set of 15 to the exercise.  The goal is to get to 1000 sets of 15 per exercise.

For the legs, we started out at 10 pounds, then followed the 5 pound increase each week till we hit 25 pounds, at which point each week you added a set of 15 to the exercise.

This does a couple of things for your body.  It slowly grows your muscle, strength and stamina over time.  It allows your body to heal up the muscle tear down between workouts a bit better than if you bulk up.  It stops you from becoming inflexible and muscle restricted.  Your muscles get a bit bigger, but mainly adds power and strength for you.

My studies and workouts showed me that if you do your whole body (all muscle groups, legs, arms, hands, core body) EVERY day, at least 5 days a week, using this process, you feel better, your body gets a workout as a whole unit (which you are), and grows in stamina and strength.

You should also add cardio to that workout list.  I have found that if you start your workout with a, initially 10 minutes working your way up to at least 30 minutes (increase in 5 minute spurts each week), walk on the treadmill.  If your life has a lot of steps, split that time with the treadmill (first) and the stationary bike if you want.  Run instead of walk if you want, either works, as long as the walk is at least a fast walk.

Politics, Religion, the Taboo Subjects…

Over the last 62, 63 at the end of next month, politics and religion have been a “taboo” subjects.  It and religion aren’t to be talked about, because it might upset your friends, family, or those around, and you might loose friends and family members, and make enemies of many.  I’ve pretty much stuck to that during conversations with people around me, including family.

I’m done with that.  Both of these subjects NEED to be talked about.  Heavily, with open, non-heated discussion, with all sides listening to the other side, and letting the other side talk, with the mind open on the listener.  Race, sex, sexual preferences and political affiliation need to be taken out of the Political conversations and facts of success or failure of a policy should be the subject of discussion.

I will begin posting my political views here starting today and moving forward from there.  I will be doing the same with the political aspect of religion here as well.  My over all religious thoughts will still be at “Don and His Spiritual Journey“, which I plan on adding to more frequently as well.

It’s time to get back onto the world, while still remaining Faithful to my religious foundations and life, and let my thoughts come out in force!

July 13, 2024 – Assassination Attempt on Trump – Conspiracy?

There is a LOT of talk that the Secret Service and local PD were involved in a conspiracy to have Trump assassinated this past Saturday.

This talk is based on a lot of conjecture, hyperbole and just plain conspiracy theory that has little logical foundation on it, at least at the level of the people on location.

The majority of the agents around Trump seemed to do their job fairly quickly, if not with great precision and skill.  Do I think many of them were incompetent to the job at hand?  Yes, do I think their desire was for Trump to die then?  No.

From my sources, it seems that every single on of his SMALL protection team on duty, had been covering him for less than two weeks.  Most of them had been with the Secret Service for less than a year, and just out of a EXPEDITED, for DEI purposes, short staffing issues, and the elections coming up needing more Agents, FLETC (Federal Law Enforcement Training Center) training.  They should NOT have been on that level of a protection assignment.

The reason Trump’s normal team, of double the size of this team, was not there, is they were apparently pulled for a Gig that Jill Biden was on on that Saturday as well.  Trump’s organization had been asking for a bigger team for this GIG, and in general, but Biden’s office kept denying it.  Heck, apparently JFKJr’s team was decimated too, and may have been taken 100%  (Not sure on that, but have heard that from several sources, but not direct contacts that would know for sure.

Yes, I do think that there MAY have been some intent of bad form by upper management (from the Director down) of the Secret Service, and probably from Jill Biden and Joe Biden and their direct staff as well.  Other Agencies, CIA, FBI, may have agents involved in possible bad form as well, but I’m pretty sure the events of the 13th were bad training, no or low experience of all Law Enforcement involved in the safety and security of the Past President and attendees of the rally, and very pour communications systems in place.

We the People need to walk away from the conspiracy processes and focus on facts as they are found out and why/how the perp did what he did.  Not that I think we will get those facts, as it will make too many people look bad and clueless as to what they should have done.

Kaihou-Kaze no waza Jutsu

Over the past 58 years I, Don, have studied martial arts and medicine at various levels.  For 15 years I took that training (which was and is ongoing) and created a merged system called Kaihou-Kaze no waza Jutsu, Fighting Art of the Circular Wind, which has been approved in Japan by one of the governing organizations of martial arts.  The school name is Circular Wind Ryu.  I have over 2000 students world wide at this point.  My “personal” school has been closed for a few years (although I still practice, and have occasionally have taken on one off students), and it is time to formally open up again.

This opening is “limited”, no more than 2, and prefer two, students per session.  There will be exceptions for larger classes.

Be watching the site here for more info in the menus as the school reopens!
